Kauai's only oceanfront luau, Surf to Sunset Luau, is held every Monday and Friday on Poipu Beach.

You get to taste Hawaiian dishes such as kalua pig, poke and poi, as well as ethnic foods ranging from Korean to Vietnamese.

The luau costs $75 for adults and $37 for children ages 6 to 12.

Local artisans teach lei making, lauhala weaving, wood carving and poi making.

The evening culminates in a Polynasian dance and song extravaganza featuring traditional and modern dances of the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands, and a fire knife dance.

You can stay at the Sheraton Kauai Resort (rooms from $239 per night).
